Polanski to be honored by European film biz
Roman Polanski will receive a lifetime achievement honor during the European Film Awards in Warsaw on December 2, organizers said recently. Reflecting on his long list of achievements, the European Film Academy said the 73-year-old French resident has created ?some of the most unforgettable moments in cinema.? The man behind the psychological-paranormal horror of 1968?s Rosemary?s Baby and the neo-film noir of 1974?s Chinatown has turned to more somber themes in recent years. He won an Oscar in 2003 for directing the Holocaust drama The Pianist. He has been unable to make films in Hollywood since skipping the United States following a 1977 conviction for statutory rape.
