Tears of SSR
■ Dr Anitah Aujayeb.
À l’heure du tout à l’image et du buzz sans suite, «l’express» souhaite faire découvrir la plume de poètes, de chanteurs, d’écrivains et de tous ceux qui jettent leur âme sur le papier, et qui mettent en mots des réflexions profondes.
When the angry bull hit the boy’s innocent eye
Blood and tears must have met along his sigh
The young lad must have cried profusely
As tears overpowered and blood cooled courageously
Life would be the same no more
As Destiny unfolded its wings in the décor
Fate won the game
When the little feet and littler steps hastened
Towards the Roman Catholic Aided school’s haven
The child must have shed tears a few
As he stood in those shoes and boots in the queue
Life would no more be the same
As Fate camouflaged life’s bane
Endurance won the game
Then came the laurels at RCC’s gates
Then followed the glorious dates
As the good doctor in the making
Bore vehemently London’s cold and shivering
Life would no more be the same
As Destiny paved the way to fame
Predestination won the game
No more tears, no more qualms
No more sighs, no more downs
Tears he wiped from the poverty-stricken
Joys he brought to the schoolchildren
Life would no more be the same
As free education did all flames insufflate
Selflessness in service won the game
But then the tears returned
As the cruel polls, the game turned
The flame withered, the purest tear was shed
While thankless hearts shamelessly jubilated
Life would no more be the same
Until the last breath on the window pane
Which smelt of the soil and the rain
