■ <B>RACE 1 – THE AIR MAURITIUS PINK PIGEON CUP</B>

At the start Sabre Force was slow out losing about one length. From the 1400 metres Credit Line started racing fiercely and threw its head up for a short distance when being settled. At two inquiries into two incidents, apprentice Bhaugeerothee (Sparkling Lad) pleaded guilty firstly to a charge under Rule 161 (c) in that near the 300 metres he jostled Sabre Force on his outside, taking the latter wide and secondly to a charge under Rule 153 A (c) in that he used his whip contrary to the instructions of his trainer, resulting in him losing his off side rein near the 150 metres, thereby losing control of his horse. Apprentice Bhaugeerothee was suspended from riding in one race reserved for Mauritian riders for the first offence and for two races reserved for Mauritian riders for the second offence, both suspensions to be served concurrently. Near the 150 metres Sparkling Lad was inconvenienced by Sabre Force which had shifted in in order to obtain a clear run. Jockey Rama was shown the video of the incident and advised to exercise more care when shifting ground. In the final straight Sparkling Lad shifted out badly from the whip. Over the final 100 metres, French Lightning was held up for a run behind Khedive. The Club’s Veterinary Surgeon reported that French Lightning was suffering from a deep cut on the off fore cannon bone. In view of this, trainer V. Allet was told that this horse will need a veterinary certificate of fitness before being allowed to race again.

Routine urine specimen was taken for analysis from Masterfax after the race.

■ <B>RACE 2 – THE AIR MAURITIUS CARDINAL CUP</B>

Yorkshire Post raced wide on the first turn. Jockey Neisius (St. Nicholas) reported that his saddle slipped backwards and sideways shortly after the start and he had difficulty to control his mount. Jockey Jones (Umzinto) reported that his mount had a tendency to hang out from the 800 metres and in the final straight shifted out from the whip and had to be straightened on two occasions. Red Rooney had a tendency to hang out in the final straight and over the concluding stages had to be taken in off the heels of Steal A Dance in order to obtain a clear run. In the final straight Gold Guild hung out under pressure and proved difficult to be properly assisted.

Routine urine specimens were taken for analysis from Red Rooney prior to the race and from Sugar Prince after the race.

■ <B>RACE 3 – THE AIR MAURITIUS PARAKEET CUP</B>

Before the announcement of the official result, the Stewards inquired into an incident which occurred in the final straight involving horses For Keeps (3rd) and Cross Patch (4th). After hearing the riders and trainers concerned and viewing the relevant videos, it was decided not to proceed further. At the start Century Lad jumped outwards brushing Vampire Jet. Jockey Boutanive (Vampire Jet) pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 53 A. (j) in that after the winning post, he made celebratory gestures in an excessive manner. He was fined Rs 5,000. Jockey Bekker (Extreme Force) reported that his mount hung out all the way. Near the 100 metres For Keeps shifted out slightly and Cross Patch, which had a tendency to hang in, had to be eased over a few strides and be taken in. Jockey Joorawon was shown the video of the incident and reminded to exercise care when his horse shifts ground.

Routine urine specimens were taken for analysis from Extreme Force, Century Lad, For Keeps, Cross Patch and Ashton Manor prior to the race and from Vampire Jet prior to and after the race.

■ <B>RACE 4 – THE AIR MAURITIUS PAILLE-EN-QUEUE CUP</B>

At the start Fort Danzig and Telaroyal were slow out, both losing about one length and Medal Ceremonyjumped outwards, brushing Telaroyal. Glenever hung out from shortly after entering the final straight to the 100 metres despite being straightened by Jockey Hill.

Routine urine specimens were taken for analysis from Fort Danzig prior to the race and from Glenever after the race.

■ <B>RACE 5 – THE AIR MAURITIUS MAIDEN CUP</B>

At the start Go The Roman was slow out losing about one length. Cavendish raced fiercely off the heels of Tabascorez from shortly after the start to the 1800 metres. Approaching the 300 metre-marker on the first occasion, Tabascorez, which was racing fiercely, shifted in slightly resulting in Grey Arrow, which was racing on its inside, being taken in and brushing the running rail. Passing the 700 metres To The Line shifted out slightly resulting in Maison De Paris being taken out onto the heels of Go The Roman and being slightly inconvenienced. Go The Roman raced wide on the final turn.

Routine urine specimens were taken for analysis from Cavendish, Have Mercy, Maison de Paris and Tabascorez prior to the race and from To The Line prior to and after the race.

■ <B>RACE 6 – THE AIR MAURITIUS KESTREL FLYER CUP</B>

At the start Modern Mission jumped outwards brushing Rodriques. Rodriques raced fiercely from the 1900 to the 1200 metres. Jockey Hill (Brooke’s Express) reported that his mount was not striding out and was hanging in and out. A veterinary examination of the horse revealed that it was short on both fore legs. In view of this report, trainer A. Perdrau was told that Brooke’s Express will need a veterinary certificate of fitness before being allowed to race again.

Routine urine specimen was taken for analysis from Splendid Man after the race.

■ <B> RACE 7 – THE AIR MAURITIUS MON CHOISY CUP</B>

At the start Go Spook was slow out, losing about one length and shortly after, was cramped for room between Kestrel and Borzov and had to be eased. From the 1400 metres Bold Plum started racing fiercely and had to be eased off the heels of Go Spook and, when doing so, threw its head up over a short distance. Approaching the 800 metres Go Spook, which was racing fiercely, was taken out off the heels of Little Gee and raced wide from then onwards. Near the 600 metres St. Austell shifted in and brushed Jazz Band and was quickly taken out. From the 450 metres St. Austell was taken out and made the turn into the final straight wide. From the 150 metres Borzov hung out badly under pressure. Near the 150 metres Jazz Band was taken in off the heels of Eli’s Romance in order to obtain a clear run. Over the concluding stages Bold Plum was disappointed for a run behind Little Gee.

Routine urine specimens were taken for analysis from Uncle Louis and St. Austell prior to the race and from Borzov after the race.

■ <B>RACE 8 – THE AIR MAURITIUS BLUE BAY CUP</B>

At the start Chikadee jumped outwards, brushing Cedar Falls and Personal Choice was slow out, losing about one length. Approaching the 1300 metres Music Master shifted in despite jockey Mahadia’s effort to straighten it, resulting in Love Bug being taken in onto Rodin which in turn shifted out, causing Love Bug to be cramped for room and having to be eased off the heels of Music Master. Love Bug raced fiercely from the 1300 to the 1100 metres. National Trust brushed the running rail approaching the 800 metres. Near the 350 metres, Love Bug which was tiring and compounding, shifted in and brushed Personal Choice which became unbalanced. At the 300 metres Cedar Falls shifted in and had to be taken out off the heels of Dutori. Approaching the 100 metres Music Master shifted out abruptly and had to be straightened. Cedar Falls raced wide on the final turn. Passing the 100 metres, Guzerat was taken in off the heels of Music Master. The Club’s Veterinary Surgeon reported that Rodin was lame on the off fore leg. In view of this report, trainer Ramapatee Gujadhur was told that Rodin will need a veterinary certificate of fitness before being allowed to race again.
