<B>Work and responsibility</B>

Javeed arrived in May 2001 to head the Deutsche Bank. However, this changed in January 2005 when he was appointed chief country officer.

Ever since he arrived in Mauritius Javeed has lived in the north of the island. At first, he lived in Calodyne; then he moved to Pointe-aux-Piments. He likes the place for two main reasons. First, it is very well located and close to Port-Louis. He also feels lucky to see very often beautiful sunsets.

The role of Javeed Mohamed Ameen is two-fold. First, he is the head of banking of Deutsche Bank Mauritius but he is also the chief country officer for the Bank. This means that, in addition to his direct responsibilities in the Bank, he has overall responsibilities for the four different business streams that form the Deutsche Bank?s operations in Mauritius.

As such, he is in charge of a complex with a total of 75 employees. ?To do all this is very demanding. But I enjoy responsibilities. Also, I work in a world-class environment. I think that helps to cope with all the hard work that I have to accomplish. I work with a dedicated and committed team of people, just as the other Deutsche Bank offices throughout the world.?

Javeed was born in South Africa, more precisely in Johannesburg. After completing his secondary school education at St Barnabas College in South Africa, Javeed?s educational path was far from over. Indeed, he went on to get a degree in Economics and a Masters in Business Leadership from the University of South Africa.

Then, he did his LIAB in the Banking institute of Bankers in South Africa and finally, he got a certification on Making markets work at Harvard Business School (in conjunction with Wits Business School).

But, during his studies, a happy event occurred. He met Shanaz in Johannesburg and married her in 1988. Some years later, they got a son who today is nine years old. Reading, travelling, and watching movies are his main hobbies. But he likes relaxing at home with his family. ?Spending my time with my family is not a hobby. It is simply what I enjoy doing the most in my life.?

At 43, he has a lot of projects. Despite the fact that he thinks Mauritius is a beautiful country, diverse in nature and with lots of friendly people, he cannot hide how much he misses his native country. ?I miss South Africa a lot, particularly my family and friends. Luckily we are only a few hours away, which makes regular visiting an option. However, for the time being I have many projects. But my most important one is to ensure that all the business projects for the bank become reality??
