All the stakeholders will meet Prime minister, Paul Bérenger, to decide whether they will go ahead with the Road Development Authority’s (RDA) planned route through the 76,000 m2 of endemic forest today. The decision should also take into account the Seebaluck report, which highlights the negative ecological effects such a road would have. Moreover, sources say that the South Eastern Highway would be dangerous for road users if its construction were done according to the current plan. Some also say that there was no Safety Audit done for this road. As a result, the government may have to review the road plans. This road was to be a link between the airport and the Eastern region. Tourists would be the ones to benefit the most.
