Man leaps to death from Empire State Building
A man jumped to his death from the 86th-floor observation deck of the Empire State Building, New York City police said on Saturday. The Police received a call that a man had leapt from the the city?s tallest building since the destruction of the Twin Towers.
His body was found on the roof of a sixth-floor landing. Police said they were still trying to identify him. Witnesses said the man appeared to be in his 30s and climbed over a spiked, three-meter fence surrounding the deck, according to Newsday.
The New York daily said that there have been fewer than 35 reported suicides since the building opened in 1931.
