At the start Mathieu was slow out, losing about one length and Covert Power shifted outwards brushing Kevin and stumbled. Approaching the 1400 metres Kevin raced fiercely, resulting in jockey Daby having to ease his mount to avoid the heels of highstakes and in so doing the horse shifted out and bumped Hot ?N Icy on its outside. Shortly after the 300 metres, Hot ?N Icy, which was tiring, shifted in onto Covert Power, brushing the latter despite apprentice Teeha?s effort to straighten it. Shortly after, East Is East, which was attempting a gap between Hot ?N Icy and Kevin, was cramped for room over a short distance when Hot ?N Icy came back out and Kevin, which has shifted in after clipping the heels of Mathieu. At an inquiry, Jockey Joorawon (Mathieu) pleaded guilty under rule 158 (5) in that he failed to ride his mount out to the finish, thus depriving it of the 3rd place. He was fined Rs. 10,000.

Brokers Trophy</B>

The Club?s Veterinary Surgeon reported that Lockerbie was lame on the off fore leg and was unfit to race. Consequently, the horse was withdrawn at 8 a.m on Saturday. As a result, all bets on Lockerbie were ordered to be refunded and betting with bookmakers was re-opened. Jockey Lloyd reported that Power Block hesitated at the start, losing one length. Mistral Morn raced wide on the final turn. Rivermagic and Decisive Joy raced fiercely from the 900 to the 500 metres. Upon entering the final straight Power Block was taken out off the heels of Mistral Morn and raced very wide thereon. When questioned about his riding of Mistral Morn from the 900 metres to the final straight, jockey Joorawon stated that his mount had a tendency to hang out badly despite his attempt to straighten it proved difficult to control. Jockey Joorawon was told that he is expected to make more of an effort to keep his horse closer to the fence and ride his horses in future so as to leave no room to query.

<B> Race 3

The Racing Association Trophy</B>

Rambo Fire had its head sideways when the gates opened and was denied a fair start. Acting under Rule 144 (1), it was declared a non-starter. All bets on this horse were ordered to be refunded and no deduction was affected on winning bets, the average price of Rambo Fire being 44-1. At the start Ten Hundred was slow out, losing about one length.

<B> Race 4

The Gold Circle Kwazulu Natal Racing Chapter Trophy</B>

Passing the 1000 metres, when the pace slowed, Blue Grass Beau started to race fiercely up to the 600 metres. In the final straight Vampire Jet had a tendency to hang in, placing its rider at a difficulty to assist it properly.

<B> Race 5

The South African Airways cargo Duke Of York Cup</B>

At the start Royal Deed stumbled and Clifton King was slow out, both horses losing one length. Near the 400 metres Royal Deed shifted in for no apparent reason, bumped the running rail and was unbalanced for one stride. In the final straight Rhythmically had a tendency to hang in, placing its rider at a disadvantage to assist it properly.

The Bloodstock

South Africa Trophy</B>

Jockey Wrogemann reported that Road Rover hung in for most of the race and upon entering the final straight, hung out under pressure and finished very wide.

<B> Race 7

The Connolly & Turner Bloodstock Trophy</B>

At the start Jammin Jive half reared and Shinealight stood flatfooted, both being slow out losing about one and two lengths respectively.

<B> Race 8

The Sea Warrior Plate</B>

At the start Going Down and Overland Express were both slow out, losing about one length. Paranui and Man?s man raced wide throughout. Who?s Pretending hung out badly in the final straight.
