Now the UK?s Foreign and Commonwealth office can help answer these questions, and hundreds more, on the newly launched Frequently Asked Questions section of www.i-uk.com.

Divided into 11 categories, the FAQs not only offer practical answers to the most diverse enquiries but expand on the initial question to direct people to further sources of information. For example, an enquiry about visas is followed by where to look for work in the UK and will provide the relevant link.

Editor of i-uk, Shauna Mclean, said: ?There has been a flood of enquiries since i-uk.com was launched in October 2002 and some of them have been really thought-provoking. For the most part, the questions show a genuine interest in the UK and ask for tips about what travellers should do before they come here.

?We have worked hard to answer them and present them in a useful way. We want i-uk to be an essential first stop shop for overseas visitors coming to the UK.?

The website is a joint initiative, led by the FCO in cooperation with VisitBritain, the British Council and UK Trade and Investment. It was launched in 2002 in response to research into overseas visitors? interests and enquiries about the UK.

As well as FAQs, the i-uk team publishes between 30-40 feature articles each month on all aspects of the UK. There are also permanent sections on business, education, life and culture and visas. Shauna added: ?We aim to keep a finger on the pulse of all the exciting events happening in the UK and cover everything from the Asian Business Awards to London Fashion Week. The UK really is so dynamic and diverse and we hope to reflect that on i-uk.?
