Race 1 - The Sepoy PLate
French Blade raced wide throughout. At an inquiry into an incident at about the 1250 metres, jockey Naiko, rider of Gdansk, was found guilty of a charge under Rule 161 (c) in that he carelessly allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of Clean Image, resulting in the latter having to be checked and taken out. Jockey Naiko was fined Rs. 10,000. He has the right of appeal. From approximately the 200 metres to approaching the 100 metres Keagan had difficulty obtaining a clear run and had to be taken out and over the concluding stages and shifted out from the whip. Over the final 50 metres, Paranui, which had a tendency to hang in was taken out off the heels of Kadjar in order to obtain a clear run.
Race 2 - The Preside Plate
Prior to the start, Lee-Shang reared, fell backwards and ran the entire course. It was withdrawn from the race and the start was delayed for about five minutes. In view of this withdrawal, all bets on Lee-Shang I were ordered to be refunded and no deduction was effected on winning bets with bookmakers, the average price of Lee-Shang being 59/1 at the time of withdrawal. Trainer C. Ramdin was advised that this horse would need to pass a barrier test to the satisfaction of the Stewards before being allowed to race again. West Bar None, which had been unruly in the stall, and Pride of Ireland half-reared, both losing about one length. Drum Major raced fiercely from the start to the 600 metres. Jockey Neisius reported that Double Honour pulled very hard till the 900 metres. Brooke?s Express raced wide throughout. Pride of Ireland made the turn into the final straight very wide. Bullfighter had a tendency to hang in in the final straight, placing its rider at a difficulty to assist his mount properly. At an inquiry into an incident at about the 1300 metres, apprentice Teeha, rider of Rambo Royale, was found guilty under Rule 161 (c) in that he carelessly allowed his mount to shift in, resulting in Waziz and Pride of Ireland having to be eased and losing their position. Apprentice Teeha was suspended from riding in races for one race meeting. He has the right of appeal. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that Rambo Royale was not striding out freely after the race. In view of this report, trainer G. Rousset was advised that this horse will need a veterinary certificate before being allowed to race again.
Race 3 - The Pierre Hugnin Cup
In the final straight President Bill had a tendency to hang in and was difficult to assist.
Race 4 - The UBP Duchess of York Cup
National Express raced fiercely from the 1200 metres to the 600 metres. Jockey Naiko reported that Chief Warrior jumped almost all the crossings.
Race 5 - The Pierre Noel Cup
Cavendish made the turn into the final straight very wide. Ace The Break hung in in the final straight and was difficult to assist properly.
Race 6 - The J. Philippe Lagesse Cup
An objection was lodged by jockey Emamdee, rider of Moro Hue, which finished 2nd, against Tambour Battant, being declared the winner, alleging interference at about the 200 metres. After taking evidence from the riders and trainers concerned and viewing the relevant videos, the objection was upheld and the placings altered to read: 1st. Moro Hue; 2nd: Tambour Battant ; 3rd: Casual Guy; 4th Seeking The Gold. Passing the 600 metres, Mission Statement shifted in abruptly bumping Seeking The Gold, causing the latter to bump the running rail severely.
Race 7 - The City Of London Cup
At the start Remote Horizon, Sporting Habit and Got The Pace were slow out, all losing about one length.
Race 8 - The Willy Larche Plate
In the final straight, Goldhawk had a tendency to hang in despite jockey Joorawon trying to straighten it and passing the 50 metres Zambezi Mystery was inconvenienced when Goldhawk shifted in abruptly. Jockey Joorawon was shown the video of the incident and told that he is expected to make a greater effort to straighten his mounts when they shift ground in future. At approximately the 75 metres, Move Ahead was disappointed for a run and had to be taken out off the heels of Shelly?s Fire. Over the concluding stages, jockey Hind dropped his near side rein, which he quickly regained.
