The magic of pencils
The Magic Pencil exhibition was officially opened last Friday under the patronage of the the vice-president Raouf Bundhun, Lady Jugnauth and the British and Australian high commissioners. This exhibition, entirely designed for children, is a collection of 60 pictures by top UK illustrators of children?s books. After being in countries such as Singapore and Spain, it is in Mauritius as part of a tour of 34 countries.
Artist Quentin Blake, who is also part of the exhibition, selected the pictures. Apart from famous artists such as Raymond Briggs and Tony Ross, there is a younger generation of artists like Lauren Child and Sara Fanelli who are experimenting new and varied styles. The exhibition is being held at the British Council, Rose-Hill from Monday 3rd May to Saturday 8th May, before travelling to schools across the country. Adults admitted only if accompanied by a child.
