Race 1 ? The Jockey Club Of Southern Africa Trophy

At the start Count Kirov was slow out, losing about two lengths. Approaching the 1200 metres, Dutori had to be checked and lost ground when Shellys Fire shifted in. At an inquiry into this incident, jockey Bundhoo was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under Rule 161 (c) for carelessly allowing his mount to shift in. He was fined Rs 20 000. Near the 100 metres, Satins Rare shifted in, resulting in Kadjar, which was racing on its inside, having to be taken in and Kelso Lad, which was following, had to be eased over some distance. At an inquiry into this incident, jockey Joorawon pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under Rule 161 (c). He was fined Rs 10 000. Jockey Rahilly reported that Count Kirov stumbled at the 150 metres and broke down. A subsequent veterinary examination of the horse revealed that it had fractured its near fore fetlock. Jockey Lloyd reported that Two Springs raced fiercely and hung out throughout. A subsequent veterinary examination of the horse revealed no abnormality. The Club?s Veterinary Surgeon reported that Kadjar had lost its near hind shoe in running and Border Post its off fore shoe.

Race 2? The Western Province Owners And Trainers Association Trophy

At the start Securitas was slow out, losing about one length. Jockey Schlechter reported that Tsavo was very difficult to ride and tried to savage horses two or three times during the race and after the winning post. Trainer S. Henry informed the Stewards that he will race the horse with blinkers at its next outing in an attempt to remedy the problem.

Race 3 ? The Racing Association Trophy

At the start Boomerang was slow out, losing about one lenght. Upon turning into the final straight, Tango Dancer (C. Daby), was taken out off the heels of Boomerang for a clear run and Glow, which was racing on its outside, had to be steadied. Jockey Daby was shown the video of the incident and advised to exercise more care when shifting ground. Jockey Beitia reported that Glow raced fiercely in the early part of the race, hung out from the 600 metres and stopped very badly. When questioned, jockey Beitia stated that the horse may have raced too keenly with blinkers. Mr. Pedrau was granted permission to have the blinkers removed from Glow in future. A subsequent veterinary examination of the horse revealed that it was trotting soundly, however had multiple cuts on both hind legs. The Club?s Veterinary Surgeon reported that Rambo Royale lost its off fore shoe in running.

Race 5 ? The Gold Circle Kwazulu Natal Racing Chapter Trophy

Passing the 300 metres, Dandy Rouge shifted in, causing Mugguti Force which was racing on its inside, being cramped for room and having to be checked. Glory Gulch, which was following, had to be taken out and Royal Wish, which was following Glory Gulch, had to be checked. He was fined Rs 10 000.

Race 6 ? The Bloodstock South Africa Trophy

Acting on veterinary advice that Coup de Grace was lame, it was withdrawn at the start.
