For they had to be first in the line

Those who needed to be absolutely there

Not to miss the gong’s first sound

Those who could not wait in sin and din

To get the first cleansing drops

Those who had seen the dazzle of the lights

Went by earlier

To enjoy the myriad of hidden colours

Those who had seen the vibrant magical eyes

Went by earlier

The magnetic pull was unexpectedly stronger

But some stayed

Some had to stay

No choice for some

Blocked roads for others

Stayed to decorate the graves

Forgetting that wreaths and tears

Do not bring anyone back

The coffins will not open

The ashes will not rise here

Let them sleep in peace for once

As such sleep was not possible on earth

They had all reasons to go earlier
