The Daily Human

Rebecca D’Souza.

À l’heure du tout à l’image et du buzz sans suite, «l’express» souhaite faire découvrir la plume de poètes, de chanteurs, d’écrivains et de tous ceux qui jettent leur âme sur le papier, et qui mettent en mots des réflexions profondes.

Gathering strength

To a fellow human, I

Daily human stepping into the jungle with much rigour,

saw the gentle gorilla laying on his side,

his large stomach on a mass of dense vegetation.

“How do you do it gorilla?”

I just be myself, and adapt when needed.

Bring meaning to your life,

and strength manifests itself and follows.

“I want to be like you,

immense, generous, steady.

Gather strength in the way you cover the land.” WhatsApp Image 2026-02-08 at 6.21.34 PM.jpg

After a long and constructive conversation,

and now back in her quiet abode,

daily human thought to herself.

There is power in our actions

and what we choose to do.

How we choose to walk through the world,

and how we live our lives.

Being human is

finding strength in what remains,

what is, and

what is yet to be created.

Mundane moments reveal revelations.

We, earth dwellers

can find, and build strength.

Who are we to limit ourselves

when so much is given and shared?

Who are we to not grow and expand

past what we had imagined possible?

Daily human

dwelling, breathing, seeing, and living,

noticed the shopkeeper cycle past on his bicycle as the needle struck

two in the afternoon, singing under his breath;

“In the second month of twenty twenty-six

True life sent to me

A bucket-full of giant strength.”

This second week of February,

let us remind ourselves

that we can build ourselves.

We can push, challenge

ourselves to become better.

To grow, and expand.

To bloom.

You are capable,

fellow human,

capable of so many things.

And through this

capable of realising,

a myriad of dreams.
