Visit of the EBI. The European Bank of Investment (EBI) will be in Mauritius from Wednesday 10th October to 12th October to discuss the financing of some projects with the government and operators. The main issues on the agenda for discussions are the sugar reform ? especially the energy and ethanol production ? and the development of the port and the sewage system.

Discussions on labour laws. Trade unions will convene a general assembly on 10th October to decide what they will do concerning the reform of labour laws. They have until 12th October to submit their proposals to the government about the Employment Relations Bill and Employment Rights bill. The right to go on strike is among the measures disputed by the trade unions. The Mauritius Employers Federation, already has its document.
