● CHINESE WEEK ? As from tomorrow, the Chinese embassy is organising a series of events in collaboration with the federation of Chinese societies and the Mauritian government. Cultural and martial arts shows will be held until Sunday 16th September. Artists and a football team from a Chinese province will also be in Mauritius for this occasion.
● RULING ON NRPT ? The Supreme Court will give its ruling over the writ of injunction on the National Residential Property Tax (NRPT) on Thursday 13th September. This tax has been introduced in the context of the fiscal reform undergone since last year. For Anil Gayan, spokesperson for the citizen forum set up to protest against the NRPT, this tax is only a way of taxing capital.
