● <B>At what time of the year do students apply for their visas?</B>

The majority of students traveling to the U.S. will do so prior to the start of the traditional U.S. school year in August and September. We recommend that students apply for their visas in July or August.

● <B>What conditions apply for a school leaver wishing to study in the US?</B>

In order to qualify for a student visa, a potential student must have been accepted into an accredited U.S. university and must demonstrate that s/he is going to the U.S. to study and that s/he has the funds to finance the studies and stay in the US.

● <B>Is there any particular visa for students in the US ? </B>

Individuals studying in the US must be in possession of a valid student visa. Students are often able to work on campus while studying but they are limited in the number of hours. After the first year of studies, students may work off campus with prior authorization from immigration authorities.

● <B> Have the conditions for the delivery of visas changed since 9/11 ?. </B>

The laws governing issuing of U.S. visas have not changed since 9/11; however we now have new procedures making the process more secure.

● <B>Does a Mauritian student in England have to apply in Mauritius for a holiday in the US ?</B>

We recommend that all applicants apply in their countries of permanent residence. Thus, it may be best for Mauritian students temporarily staying in the United Kingdom to apply for their visas in Mauritius.
