Two high commissioners take up their posts

■ Catherine Johnstone is the new Australian high commissioner in Mauritius with accreditation to the Comoros, Madagascar and Seychelles. She has a long overseas experience with her first posting in Kuala Lumpur between 1985 and 1988. She then moved to Mexico City until 1990 and New York until 1993. The new ambassador was then posted at the Department of Foreign affairs and Trade in 1995 and was more recently a Director in Corporate Management Division.

■ The new British high commissioner, Dr John Murton arrived more recently with his wife Sarah and their three children. He worked for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office until 2000 when he moved to Tokyo as second secretary for Trade Policy Global Issues until 2002 and first secretary for Energy and Environment for the next two years. Just before coming to Mauritius, he was the deputy director of the secretary general?s private office at the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation.
