My name is Ashvind Candhye. I come from a good family in Goodlands. I read a recent article in l?express concerning Mauritians studying in Ireland and the situation is worst I can tell you. Life is hard and the agents from Mauritius didn?t advise us. I think the population should be made aware of this issue. There are students arriving at the airport in Ireland and finding out that no one came to pick them up. Their accommodation is a small room with 8 people living in it while the agent had promised them a host family and airport pick up. The fees are not refunded afterwards and the agencies take huge commisions!

I know some girls who need to stay in this room with many boys as they have no choice. The Government needs to be strict with such agencies. There are some suspicious ?colleges? like Grafton College. You can ask families who sought the service of an agency to send their children in Ireland. You can ask them what their relatives had gone through and there must be a stop to that.

I know that yours is a reputable newspaper and I hope firmly that you would further research on this and inform the Mauritian public of such a dirty business in the name of education.
