Start of activities to celebrate abolition of slavery
The activities for the 171st Anniversary of the Abolition of Slavery on 1st February will start as from next Tuesday. Two main events will ?inaugurate?
the activities: a miniature sculpture competition on the theme ?Abolition of Slavery?, followed by an exhibition at the Mauritius Institute, from 31st January to 6th February. An exhibition of posters on slavery will be held at the Malcolm de Chazal Art Gallery in Curepipe (between 31st January and 3rd February). The official celebration on 1st February will be held at Pointe Canon in Mahébourg. On the 4th, the Nelson Mandela Centre for African Culture, with the collaboration of other associations, is organizing a cultural show.
