Every morning I take the bus from Rose-Belle to Port-Louis. During weekdays it takes more than one and half-hours to reach Port- Louis before 8.30 am. I travel the same distance on Saturdays and it takes me one hour to reach my destination at 8.00 o?clock.

Some of you must be saying but that?s logical as during weekdays there is a traffic jam. But I don?t find it logical or a pleasure to sit in the bus for TWO hours to get to work! It?s not a question of constructing new roads to the city; it?s a question of travelling by bus.

One car for 1 person / One bus for 60 persons! Everyday there are so many people driving cars to Port Louis. You will find some sitting leisurely at the wheel, some complaining about the policemen contributing to the traffic jam, and others trying to move from one lane to the other to catch up on time. As for those who are in buses, some have fallen asleep, others are sitting patiently, glancing at their watches, waiting for the ?go? signal.

You can have many complaints about travelling by bus, jot them down and send them to the persons concerned for the latter to take measures. The solution that most of you have adopted is just adding to the thousands of other motor vehicles and increasing the level of air pollution. The solution is neither buying a car, nor building new roads.

We are on a small island; the construction of more roads or the introduction of a metro train will change the landscape of our beautiful country forever. Be more responsible towards your environment for our sake and that of future generations. Furthermore the cost of petrol is high, why not do some saving and catch a bus!
