You must all have surely heard of ?The Show?; that porn clip made by some students. Well this is the talk of town. And all we?re doing is pinpointing them. But don?t we all have our part of responsibility in such an act?

Are we not supposed to sit and think of solutions to this problem? By ?solutions? I surely don?t mean to further restrict the youth of today but to achieve a change of mindset.

As compared to the last generation, teenagers are today growing very quickly and from a very young age they are prone to trespass the limits of society. At this age, they all are in quest of pleasure and in search of desire. Who has the right to say when it is the right time to have sex or when it is not? This phenomenon is common everywhere around the world and it has existed for years. But why are we reacting as if it were the first case?

These adolescents were surely doing this clip for fun and weresurely not aware of the consequences? Then who is to blame when they are not aware of the consequences? The ?credit? surely goes to parents, teachers, the government ?or simply the hypocrisy of adults. You, adults, are surely aware of the problems of today and you?re also aware that your children are growing up quickly. But are you giving them the proper sexual education? Or are you ashamed of doing so? Instead of pinpointing these adolescents, why don?t you blame yourselves first? Don?t you think that this case might be the rebellion of youth towards the adults? world?

What is the use of school today? The government is speaking about quality education. Has he been thinking of a solution to this problem in his ?quality of education?? Go and talk to your teachers about sexual problems or views and they?ll surely take you for a mad or evade your question or may be put you out of the class. When I first entered secondary school, I was told we would be having a psychologist but today after five years of schooling in one of the ?elite? schools, I have not even seen the face of that psychologist. And you come and blame adolescents? Why don?t we have moral classes at school like they do in the BEC colleges?

I do believe in the freedom of the press, but not to such an extent. In a civilized country the press doesn?t have the right to publish the name or publish the photo of this young lady. Today, walking in the streets, I will easily recognize this girl if ever I come across her, with her photo published a few days ago. I have the impression that some want to is give people clues about who that girl is.

<B>The right advice</B>

Some have even emphasized the fact that she goes to a ?college d?élite?. Are they not sticking an ?étiquette? on that school? Instead of publishing all these things why don?t newspapers write about the solutions to this problems? I should thank l?express for not giving the identity of the girl nor a wide publicity to the matter.

Jesus once said concerning Mary Magdalene : ?Que celui qui n?a jamais péché lui lance la première pierre.? I think we should somehow give support to that girl and her family. And to the youth of today I would like to say we?re living in a world of technology. Eroticism is surely beautiful, and you may wish to record a clip when doing something but remember something, the moment this clip reaches another person, you?re dead. They?re talking of putting these four guys behind the bars for 5-10 years. Humiliation and defamation, are these two things not enough for the culprits? Instead of putting them behind the bars ,why not give them a punishment like to serve society for five years?

You must surely be asking yourself why ten years back when there was no communication between parents and children, such a problem never happened. Well I believe that it was due to the fact that we were not selfish. Nowadays we are selfish. We live in a world where everyone thinks only of himself. I firmly believe that elders should be able to give the right advices and make their children aware of things and their consequences. We should build a new world of love, kindness and respect for each other.

<B>Humiliation</B>

The ways things have been going on is all related to society. Society has just ruined the lives of four teenagers; teenagers who are called the future of Mauritius. Should society be considered an influence in what they have done? Then society is guilty for the way things are going on, names being published in newspapers, names being mentioned on radios. Society is judging its own mistake, and in doing so, it has defamed four families; it is sending four boys to jail and making a girl face humiliation. Why not give them a chance? Why not work together to make changes instead of criticizing and gossiping? It?s high time to change our mindset my friends.
