Marie-Linley Savriacooty hit the headlines again last week. After disappearing into thin air, she was finally found unconscious lying on the ground at the bus station in Mahebourg five days later. After she told her mother she was going in Port-Louis to see her lawyer on Monday, she left home and disappeared until Friday. She indeed went to see her lawyer, Jacques Panglose, but as he was not there, she went to Pazhany Rangasamy’s office and then to the Supreme Court to start the procedures to obtain alimony from her husband.

This was the last time Marie-Linley Savriacooty was seen. When she was finally found on Friday, she was lying on the ground wearing the same clothes as the day she was allegedly attacked in Camp-de-Masque. She was taken to Nehru Hospital in Souillac where her relatives came to visit her. Even though she mentioned that she had various wounds all over her body – the police medical officer has not examined her yet – she did not want to give more details about how she sustained them. She said she would talk only in the presence of her lawyer. The police are starting another enquiry and are checking all leads which may throw light on the alleged victim’s version…
