■ <B> RACE 1 ? THE PET LOVERS ASSOCIATION CUP</B>
At the start Sir Winston stood flat-footed, was slow out, losing about three lengths. Burning Light and Thunder Valley were slow out, both losing about one length. Thunder Valley raced wide throughout. Near the 600 metres Free Offer brushed the running rail. Approaching the 300 metres Swoon (V. Bundhoo) shifted in under pressure resulting in Super Edge, which was following, having to be taken in and Sir Winston, which was racing on its inside being slightly inconvenienced. Jockey V. Bundhoo was shown the video of the incident and told to straighten his mounts when they shift ground. Burning Light had a tendency to hang in in the final straight and brushed the running rail near the 100 metres and shortly after, jockey Daby accidentally dropped his whip. Jockey Mahadia (Blue Grass Beau) reported that his mount was off the bit the whole way and did not like the going.
Routine urine specimens were taken for analysis from Brassy Badger, Burning Light and Super Edge prior to the race and from Dane?s Castle after the race.
■ <B> RACE 2 ? THE EMTEL INTERNATIONAL CUP</B>
Peruzzi was very fractious, rearing badly in its stall and was consequently withdrawn. In view of this, all bets on this horse were ordered to be refunded and the winning bets with bookmakers were paid less 15 cents per rupee, the average price of Peruzzi being Rs 600 at the time of withdrawal. In view of this, trainer G. Rousset was told that Peruzzi will need to pass a barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before being allowed to race again. At the start Catullus and Ask The Wind were slow out, both losing about one length and Joystick jumped inwards, brushing Ask The Wind, resulting in the latter being slightly inconvenienced off the heels of Leatherman. Umzinto threw its head up on jumping unbalancing its jockey and again near the 1400 metres when eased off the heels of Double Lock. Passing the 400 metres Leatherman had a tendency to hang out. Paranui hung in in the final straight and could not be properly assisted. Jockey Bekker (Promise Keeper) reported that his mount changed legs the whole way. A subsequent veterinary examination of this horse revealed no abnormality. Jockey Hill (Almahab) reported that his mount hung in throughout the race. A subsequent veterinary examination of this horse revealed it to be lame on its off hind leg. In view of this, trainer A. Perdrau was told that this horse will need to obtain a veterinary certificate of soundness before being allowed to race again.
Routine urine specimens were taken for analysis from Ask The Wind, Paranui and Joystick prior to the race and from Leatherman after the race.
■ <B>RACE 3 ? THE EMTEL INNOVATION CUP</B>
At the start National Express was slow out, losing about one length. Desert Dance raced fiercely from the 1100 metres to the 900 metres throwing its head up in the air when being settled. National Express raced fiercely from the 900 metres to the 400 metres proving difficult to control off the heels of Desert Dance.
Routine urine specimen was taken for analysis from Noble Dancer after the race.
■ <B>RACE 4 ? THE EMTEL TV CUP</B>
The Club?s Veterinary Surgeon reported that Jazz Band was lame on its near hind leg and was unfit to race. Consequently, the horse was withdrawn at 8 a.m. on Friday. As a result, all bets on this horse were ordered to be refunded and betting with bookmakers was re-opened. Trainer S. Henry was advised that Jazz Band will need a veterinary certificate of soundness before being allowed to race again. At the start The First Russian jumped with its head up and was slow into stride.
Routine urine specimens were taken for analysis from Greek Flag, Alaric and Keen To Win prior to the race and from The First Russian after the race.
■ <B>RACE 5 ? THE EMTEL CHALLENGE CUP</B>
At the start Go The Roman was slow out, losing about one length. Near the 1250 metres, Longford which was being eased to go to the fence, was slightly cramped for room between Nautilus and Sugar King. In the back straight, Jockey Boutanive (Longford) when holding his position jostled Sugar King on a couple of occasions. Jockey Boutanive reported that Longford did not act in the rain affected going. Passing the 1000 metres, when the pace slowed, Longford started racing fiercely and raced awkwardly off the heels of Nautilus. From the 300 metres War Council hung out and made the turn into the final straight wide.

■ <B>RACE 6 ? THE EMTEL 3G CUP</B>
At the start Woden was slow out losing about one length and shortly after had to be eased off the heels of Just Wonder which had been bumped and taken out by Sterling Silver which had jumped outwards. King?s Oak jumped outwards and stumbled and shortly after, shifted out, brushing Grand Duke resulting in Coronation Cup, in between, being inconvenienced and having to be eased. Approaching the 1200 metres Johnny Bravo and Woden were both cramped for room when King?s Oak shifted in. Jockey Hill was shown the video of the incident, issued with a warning and told to exercise more care when shifting ground. From near the 1150 metres Johnny Bravo raced fiercely from off the heels of Just Wonder until the 900 metres. From the 1100 metres Just Wonder started racing fiercely and was taken out off the heels of Sterling Silver, taking King?s Oak, on its outside, wider. Near the 100 metres Coronation Cup shifted in under pressure, resulting in King?s Oak having to be eased slightly. Jockey Boutanive was shown the video of the incident and told to straighten his mounts when they shift ground. King?s Oak raced wide throughout and Woden raced wide on the final turn.

■ RACE 7 ? THE EMTEL MOBILE DATA CUP</B>
Maison De Paris raced fiercely from shortly after the start to the 1300 metres. From the 400 metres National Manner was disappointed for a clear run and passing the 200 metres it was taken in for a clear run off the heels of Maison de Paris and brushed Big Bad John on its inside. In the final straight Brooke?s Express had a tendency to hang in and proved difficult to be properly assisted.
Routine urine specimens were taken for analysis from To The Line prior to and after the race.
■ RACE 8 ? THE TOMMY BOY PLATE </B>
At the start Blessed Arabian stood flat-footed, was slow out, losing about two lengths and Kevin, Bobby?s Boy and Cut?em Up were slow out, all losing about one length. Captain jumped outwards and when being straightened threw its head up on a number of occasions. Near the 500 metres French Lightning which had a tendency to hang in, shifted in despite jockey Bekker?s attempt to straighten it, inconveniencing Tabasheer. French Lightning raced wide throughout and jockey Bekker reported that this horse did not act in the rain affected going. Be A Sport hung out in the final straight.
