■ RACE 1 ? THE VICTOR DUVIVIER CUP

Weekender jumped awkwardly, throwing its head, losing considerable ground. Big Bad John was slow to begin. Shortly after the start Chirac was steadied to obtain a position at the back of the field. Approaching the 1600 metres World Reward steadied when awkward on the inside of Golden Millenium. At the 1400 metres Weekender steadied when awkward on the hindquarters of Bid Bad John. At the 1000 metres Modern Mission, which was over-racing, steadied from the heels of World Reward. At the 700 metres World Reward clipped the heels of Golden Millenium and blundered. World Reward then rolled out, crowding Modern Mission onto Piper?s Promise. Big Bad John then steadied from the heels of Modern Mission. Big Bad John then rolled out onto Chirac. Chirac was taken out from the 500 metres. Rounding the home turn Golden Millenium lay out, crowding Light Path onto Grosvenor Square. Shortly after straightening Golden Millenium continued to lay out and at this stage World Reward when being taken to the outside of Golden Millenium crowded Big Bad John onto Light Path. Light Path then shifted ground, crowding Weekender onto Piper?s Promise. Over the concluding stages Big Bad John was inconvenienced when Chirac lay in. Jockey Orffer, rider of Chirac, explained the gelding in the past had raced well when ridden quietly in the early stages, as such today from the outside barrier it was decided that he would endeavour to go back in the early stages and obtain a rearward position.

■ RACE 2 ? THE FREDERICK STAUB CUP

Mudslide Slim jumped awkwardly, brushed the outside of the stall and became unbalanced. Shortly after the start Laicep?s and Strand Of Gold brushed. Kings Arms and Step With Style were slow to begin. Shortly after the start Tuff Stuff lay in, crowding Kings Arms onto Step With Style. At the 1300 metres Grand Duke rolled in, crowding Laicep?s onto Strand Of Gold. Stand Of Gold then crowded Mr Millionaire. Leaving the 1250 metres Horn Beam and Grand Duke were awkward on the inside of Fire Qui, which was shifting ground inwards. Shortly after this, Fire Qui steadied from the heels of Tuff Stuff which was improving. Fire Qui then crowded Grand Duke. Supreme Mission then steadied from the hindquarters of Grand Duke. At the 1000 metres Step With Style had to steady when close to the heels of Laicep?s. Fire Qui over-raced in the middle stages and at the 1000 metres rolled out, inconveniencing Grand Duke. At the 800 metres Fire Qui had to be restrained to avoid the heels of Tuff Stuff. Kings Arms over-raced in the middle stages and then raced wide for some distance approaching the 600 metres. Laicep?s and Step With Style were taken wide from the 500 metres. At the 300 metres Mr Millionaire had to be steadied when unable to improve between Horn Beam and Strand Of Gold. Mr. Millionaire then rolled in, crowding Mudslide Slim. Approaching the 100 metres Mudslide Slim had difficulty in obtaining clear running between Grand Duke and Fire Qui. Then approaching the 50 metres Grand Duke had to be steadied when awkward between Horn Beam and Mudslide Slim, which was being taken to the outside of Tuff Stuff. Over the concluding stages Mr Millionaire rolled in, crowding Horn Beam. Stand Of Gold lay in in the home straight. Jockey Orffer, rider of Mudslide Slim, explained from a good barrier it was his intention to endeavour to race slightly better than mid-field, however just prior to the start Mudslide Slim became restless and as the start was effected reared losing ground, as such he was obliged to race further back in the field than he would have wished and then in the home straight had some difficulty obtaining clear running.

■ RACE 3 ? THE SIR RADHAMOHUN GUJADHUR CUP

Pipeline and Promise Keeper were slow to begin. Born Leader jumped awkwardly, shifted ground, crowding Cedar Falls. Al Mambo and Ashton Manor jumped awkwardly. Ashton Manor raced wide in the early stages and at the 1100 metres raced ungenerously and lay out. Leaving the 1300 metres Cedar Falls had to be steadied when awkward between Pipeline and Noble Dancer which was laying in when awkward on the inside of Weston Heritage. Jockey Joorawon, rider of Weston Heritage, was warned to exercise more care. At the 600 metres Born Leader was awkward when close to the heels of Ashton Manor. Al Mambo was taken wide from the 400 metres. Noble Dancer was taken wide from the 300 metres. Born Leader lay in in the home straight. The Club?s Veterinary Surgeon reported that Noble Dancer was lame on the off fore leg. In view of this, trainer S. Ramdin was told that this horse will need a veterinary certificate of soundness before being allowed to race again.

■ RACE 4 ? THE IVAR AND ECOFLAM CUP

Brandy-Pawnee was slow to begin. Swartland and Clifton King came together shortly after the start. Swartland raced wide from the 500 metres.

Routine urine specimens were taken for analysis from Duty Roster prior to the race and from Harriman prior to and after the race.

■ RACE 5 ? THE MANDRON TOURING PARIS CUP

Mister Assembly was slow to begin. Sentinal jumped awkwardly, brushing Heliotrope. Shortly after the start Mister Assembly rolled in, crowding Sterling Silver. Approaching the 1300 metres African Ambassador commenced to over-race. African Ambassador continued to race ungenerously after this and hung out, and was then taken to the front down the back straight but was unable to cross. At the 900 metres Flavius steadied off the heels of Heliotrope. African Ambassador lay out approaching and rounding the home turn. Approaching the 300 metres Sentinal had to be steadied when awkward between Heliotrope and Mister Assembly, which was being taken to the outside of Sterling Silver. In this incident, Sentinal brushed the hindquarters of Heliotrope. Jockey Brown, rider of Mister Assembly, was warned to exercise more care when shifting ground. Flavius was taken wide rounding the home turn.

■ RACE 6 ? THE RENE DE C. DU MEE CUP

Umzinto jumped awkwardly, throwing its head. Catamaran was slow to begin. Umzinto raced wide from the 1000 metres. At the 150 metres Catamaran had to be taken to the outside of Keen To Win to continue going forward. At the 75 metres Halo Hunter and Catamaran came together when both geldings shifted ground. The Club?s Veterinary Surgeon reported that Umzinto was lame on the off fore leg. In view of this, trainer S. Henry was told that this horse will need a veterinary certificate of soundness before being allowed to race again.

■ RACE 7 ? THE PAUL CLARENC CUP

National Trust jumped awkwardly. Matthew?s Own was slow to begin. Shortly after the start Chopipe and What Price came together. Approaching the 1400 metres Alarming Swing was awkward when close to the heels of National Trust which was being taken in to obtain a position behind Sunsat. Alarming Swing raced ungenerously for some distance following this. Approaching the 1300 metres Chopipe rolled in, crowding Matthew?s Own. Passing the 1300 metres Eli?s Romance, when being steadied from the heels of Romp In The Forum ducked out, carried National Trust onto Chopipe. Matthew?s Own, which was following, steadied. Jazz Band then steadied off Matthew?s Own. At the 1000 metres National Trust lay in crowding Alarming Swing. Down the back straight National Trust and Alarming Swing raced tight when National Trust continued to lay in at various stages and at the 700 metres Alarming Swing became unbalanced when brushing the running rails. Matthew?s Own was taken wide from the 500 metres. What Price was taken wide rounding the home turn, then lay in over the concluding stages. Shortly after straightening Romp In The Forum commenced to lay in, Eli?s Romance was then taken to the outside of Romp In The Forum to continue going forward. At the 100 metres Alarming Swing had to be taken to the inside of Eli?s Romance to continue going forward. Alarming Swing was then unable to obtain clear running for the remainder of the race. The rider of What Price reported that his saddle slipped to the near side during the latter stages.

■ RACE 8 ? THE LALL SEESURRUN CUP

Nyathi jumped awkwardly. Palatino was slow to begin. Gandolf jumped awkwardly, unbalancing its rider. Coventry Kid was slow to begin. Gandolf raced wide in the early and middle stages. Cut ?Em Up was taken wide from the 400 metres. Bobby Shoes was taken wide rounding the home turn. At the 300 metres Dutori had to be steadied when waiting for a run on the inside of Coventry Kid. Trainer C. Ramdin was questioned in relation to the improved performance of Bobby Shoes. He explained the gelding was having its third start in Mauritius today and was racing in a lower rating range, since its last start he had added blinkers to the gelding?s gear. Since then, its work had improved, therefore he was hoping for an improved performance today with the gelding being moderately supported. Jockey Brown was questioned in relation to his handling of Cut ?Em Up over the final 400 metres. He explained that he enjoyed a good run in a mid-field position, one off the rail. He then elected to improve around the field from the 400 metres as he did at its last start when he was successful. However, on this occasion, although Cut ?Em Up went to the lead, he was unable to break clear and was then overtaken approaching the winning post.
