■ RACE 1 ? THE ARMED GUARD CUP

At the start Blushing Moon was slow out, losing about one length and Russian Marriage and Stephen Jones were slow out, both losing about two lengths. Blushing Moon raced fiercely from the 1300 to the 700 metres, throwing it head up when being settled. Near the 500 metres Major John shifted in abruptly and brushed the running rail, resulting in jockey Woodworth?s saddle slipping sideways and the jockey losing his near side stirrup, he then decided to take his horse out of the race. Astrakhan, which was following, was inconvenienced and had to be eased and taken out and in so doing carried New Recruit onto Almahab, both horses racing wide from thereon. Near the 300 metres New Recruit shifted out slightly and brushed Almahab on its outside. Jockey Sooful was shown the video of the incident and told to exercise care at all times.

Routine urine specimens were taken for analysis from Century Lad prior to the race and from José Mourinho prior to and after the race.

■ RACE 2 ? THE LEKIP CUP

At the start Vampire Jet was slow out, losing about one length. Barrister jumped inwards, brushing Romp In The Forum, resulting in jockey Teeha becoming slightly unbalanced and losing his near-side stirrup which he quickly regained. In the final straight Romp In The Forum and Ay Tee Em hung in and could not be properly assisted. Over the final 75 metres, Emjaybee was inconvenienced off the heels of Romp In The Forum, which had a tendency to shift in, and could not be ridden out. Approaching the 100 metres Bang On Time shifted out under pressure and had to be straightened, resulting in Vigliodor, which was attempting a run between Bang On Time and Ay Tee Em, being inconvenienced over a short distance. At an inquiry, jockey Boutanive (Ay Tee Em) was asked why he looked on his inside on numerous occasions. He stated that he heard jockey Herholdt screaming and looked to make sure he was leaving enough ground. His explanations were accepted. The Club?s Veterinary Surgeon reported that Zephuros had a speedy cut on the off hind leg. In view of this, trainer R. Maingard was told that this horse will need a veterinary certificate of fitness before being allowed to race again. The Club?s Veterinary Surgeon reported that Vampire Jet was lame on the off fore leg. In view of this and due to the fact that this horse suffers from chronic inflammation to its off fore suspensory ligament, trainer S. Ramdour was told that Vampire Jet has been suspended from racing for the remainder of the season and will need a veterinary certificate of soundness before being allowed to race again.

Routine urine specimens were taken for analysis from Emjaybee and Bang On Time prior to the race and from Gold Guild after the race.

■ RACE 3 ? THE ESSENTIELLE CUP

At the start Marissimo was slow out, losing about one length. Shortly after the start Sardonyx shied away from Dane?s Castle and shifted in slightly, resulting in Follow The Gold becoming inconvenienced and having to be steadied. From the 1200 to the 700 metres, Sardonyx started racing fiercely, throwing its head up when being settled. Dane?s Castle raced wide on the first turn. Jockey Mahadia (Marissimo) reported that his mount raced green and hung in all the way. Permission was granted for Sardonyx to race closer to the lead since both trainer V. Allet and jockey Woodworth thought that there would be pace in the race and, at its two previous starts, when ridden from behind had not accelerated as expected. However, after today?s race, where the horse raced very fiercely and failed to quicken in the final straight, the trainer and jockey were of the opinion that Sardonyx may be better suited when ridden from behind. The Club?s Veterinary Surgeon reported that Follow The Gold bled from both nostrils. In view of this report and acting under Rule 166 (2) (c), trainer B. Gujadhur was told that Follow The Gold has been suspended for one month and will need a veterinary clearance before being allowed to race again.

■ RACE 4 ? THE RADIO ONE CUP

At the start, Fashion Editor stood flat-footed and Chief Warrior was slow out, both losing about one length. When the gates opened Flavius reared and jumped out awkwardly, losing about two lengths. From the 150 metres, Men Of Rheims shifted in under pressure and passing the 100 metres, Splendid Man was taken out off the heels of Men Of Rheims for a clear run, in doing so Splendid Man shifted out abruptly and had to be straightened. The Club?s Veterinary Surgeon reported that Fashion Editor was lame on the off fore leg and that Flavius had a cut into the near fore tendon. In view of this, trainers S. Ramdour and S. Henry were told that their respective horses will need a veterinary certificate of soundness before being allowed to race again.

■ RACE 5 ? THE L?Express Turf-MTC 175TH ANNIVERSARY CUP

The Duke Of Dixie had a tendency to hang in in the final straight and could not be properly assisted.

■ RACE 6 ? THE L?EXPRESS SAMEDI & L?EXPRESS DIMANCHE CUP

At the start Duty Roster jumped outwards, brushing Frondeur. Woden and Coronation Cup were slow out, both losing about one length. Passing the 1300 metres Make No Mistake had to be eased when running too close to the heels of Innkeeper. At an inquiry into an incident jockey Teeha (Innkeeper) pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 161 (c) in that passing the 1300 metres he carelessly took his mount in when insufficiently clear, resulting in Woden being cramped for room over some distance, having to be checked and eventually brushing the running rail. When assessing penalty, the Stewards took into consideration the fact that jockey Teeha had pleaded guilty to the charge but that he had been charged eight times under this rule this season. Subsequently, jockey Teeha was suspended from riding in races for one race meeting and fined Rs.20,000. Make No Mistake raced wide from the 450 metres. Road To Jerusalem hung in in the final straight and could not be properly assisted. The Club?s Veterinary Surgeon reported that Frondeur was lame on the off fore leg. In view of this and due to the fact that this horse suffers from chronic arthritic problems to both fetlocks, trainer Rameshwar Gujadhur was told that Frondeur has been suspended from racing for the remainder of the racing season and will need a veterinary certificate of soundness before being allowed to race again.

■ RACE 7 ? THE 5-PLUS CUP

At the start Matthew?s Own was slow out, losing about one length. Sideliner jumped inwards brushing Cameron James. St Austell was slow into stride. Approaching the 300 metres, Sideliner was held up for a run over a short distance when unable to improve behind Hero?s Hope. Icelandic raced wide throughout. Sideliner hung in in the final straight and proved difficult to be properly assisted.

■ RACE 8 ? THE SPECIAL IDOL PLATE

At the start Bobby Shoes jumped inwards and, when straightened shifted out abruptly, bumping Jazz King. Destination was slow out, losing about one length. Ice Flow jumped inwards onto Piper?s Promise which in turn shifted in onto Spirit, resulting in the latter being inconvenienced and taken in and having to be steadied off the heels of Camp Delta. Camp Delta and Piper?s Promise raced wide throughout. At an inquiry into an incident, jockey Rama (Chirac) was issued with a warning, the particulars being that approaching the 100 metres he carelessly allowed his mount to shift out, resulting in Ice Flow being taken out onto Spirit which was inconvenienced.
