■ RACE 1 ? THE MYSTIC SNOW CUP

At the start Cut?Em Up, Rivers Of Babylon and Captain were slow out, all losing about one length. At an inquiry into two incidents, jockey Azie (Droplet) pleaded guilty to two charges under Rule 161 (c) in that firstly, passing the 1300 metres he carelessly allowed his mount to shift out, resulting in Rivers Of Babylon clipping its heels and stumbling badly and secondly, near the 1000 metres he carelessly allowed his mount to shift in, resulting in Rivers Of Babylon being cramped for room and having to be eased. Jockey Azie was suspended from riding in the next race reserved for Mauritian riders in both cases, the suspensions to run concurrently. From the 1100 metres to the 900 metres Tours raced fiercely and had to be checked off the heels of Credit Line on a number of occasions. Passing the 1000 metres Blessed Arabian started racing fiercely and, when being settled, threw its head up and the saddle slipped forward. Jockey Naiko, who had difficulty in controlling it, shifted out off the heels of Credit Line and raced to the lead. When shifting out, Blessed Arabian carried Special K, which was on its outside, wide. Special K raced wide from then on. In the final straight Blessed Arabian could not be properly assisted due to the saddle which had slipped. When questioned, Jockey Naiko stated that it may have been caused by the use of an elastic girth which he had only recently used and told the Stewards that he will not use this equipment in future. Jockey Naiko was reminded of his obligation to have his equipment properly fitted on the horse. Captain hung out badly in the final straight. Jockey Rama was shown the video of the incident and told that on this occasion he was clear of other runners, however he was advised to straighten his mounts when they shift ground. The Chief Handler reported that Cut?Em Up proved dangerous on loading and was restless in its stall. In view of this, trainer B. Gujadhur was told that this horse needs to trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before being allowed to race again.

Routine urine specimens were taken for analysis from Tours, Credit Line and Love Bug prior to the race and from Fleeting Moment after the race.

■ RACE 2 ? THE TOPFM CHALLENGER CUP

At the start Got The Pace was slow out, losing about one length. Golden Rambo jumped inwards onto Superviviente resulting in Game Lodge on its inside being inconvenienced and having to be steadied. At an inquiry into an incident, jockey Boutanive pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 161 (c) in that shortly after the start he carelessly allowed his mount to shift in, resulting in Superviviente being cramped for room and having to be checked. In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into consideration jockey Boutanive?s record which showed that he had been found guilty of a charge under that rule for the last three consecutive weeks, with a suspension and a fine incurred last week. Consequently, he was suspended from riding in races for two racemeetings and fined Rs 20,000. Passing the 400 metres Golden Kahir shifted out slightly and when taken back in Golden Rambo, which was following, had to be steadied off its heels.

■ RACE 3 ? THE TOPFM HARD TALK CUP

Jockey Venkaya was stood down by the Club?s Doctor and was replaced on Lockerbie by jockey Rawa. At the start Strike Force and Rue Royale were slow out, both losing about one length. Lockerbie raced wide throughout. Jockey Brown (Cedar Falls) was questioned as to why, shortly after jumping, he did not insist to take a position on the fence behind Port Jackson. He explained that although his mount was quicker at the start, jockey Teeha (Strand Of Gold), on his inside, was insisting and as his mount was carrying a heavy weight he did not want to insist with the possibility of Cedar Falls racing fiercely. He was told to ride his horses so as to leave no room for query. Passing the 1300 metres, Cedar Falls was cramped for room and had to be steadied when Ashton Manor shifted in. Apprentice Bussunt was shown the video of the incident, issued with a warning and told that in future he should wait for a few more strides before shifting in. From the 1000 metres Ashton Manor raced very fiercely and proved difficult to be properly controlled. From passing the 300 metres until entering the final straight, Rue Royale was held up for a run when unable to improve between Port Jackson and Mr Magoo. Rue Royale had a tendency to hang in over the final 100 metres.

■ RACE 4 ? THE TOPFM HOT TURF TALK CUP

The Club?s Veterinary Surgeon reported that Fiado was lame and unfit to race. Consequently, the horse was withdrawn at 3.15 p.m. on Friday. As a result, all bets on this horse were ordered to be refunded and betting with bookmakers was re-opened. Trainer V. Allet was advised that Fiado will need a veterinary certificate of soundness before being allowed to race again. Aquavit was very difficult to load, was slow out losing about one length and was slow into stride. Trainer A. Perdrau was told that this horse will need to trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before being allowed to race again.

■ RACE 5 ? THE TOPFM CUP

Jockey Rawa replaced jockey Venkaya on Methodical Man. At the start Sugar King jumped outwards, resulting in Clifton King and Press Line being cramped for room, the former having to be eased, losing its position. Paris Skye and Wolfe Tone raced wide on the first turn and Methodical Man raced wide from the 600 metres. Passing the 400 metres Al Mambo shifted out and when taken back in near the 300 metres, Press Line had to be steadied. Approaching the 100 metres Press Line shifted out abruptly from the whip bumping Champ In Action on its outside, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced over a couple of strides. Jockey Brown was shown the video of the incident and told to straighten his mounts when they shift ground. Jockey Orffer (Paris Skye) reported that his mount raced green and jumped all the crossings.

Routine urine specimens were taken for analysis from Light Scuffle and Dawn Attack prior to the race and from Champ In Action prior to and after the race.

■ RACE 6 ? THE TOPFM COZE DO MO PEP CUP

At the start Maison de Paris and Go The Roman were slow out, both losing about one length. Jockey Hatt (Up In Arms) reported that his mount raced very fiercely and changed legs throughout the race. The Club?s Veterinary Surgeon reported that Up In Arms was coughing repeatedly after the race. A subsequent endoscopic examination of the horse revealed traces of blood in the trachea. In view of this, trainer P. Merven was told that this horse should be treated accordingly before being allowed to race again. From the 600 metres to the 300 metres Rambo Rouge was held up for a run when unable to improve behind Up In Arms.

■ RACE 7 ? THE TOPFM ZERO DIABETES CUP

At the start Imperial Domain was slow out, losing about one length. Near the 1300 metres Imperial Domain shied away from the shadow near the winning post, nearly dislodging jockey Herholdt who lost his near side stirrup, which he regained shortly after. Passing the 300 metres Looks To Kill was slightly inconvenienced when Place On The Bay shifted in. Jockey Neisius was shown the video of the incident and told to exercise care at all times. Shortly after entering the final straight, Judge Boesman shifted out from the whip, brushing Misty Gold, resulting in the latter being slightly inconvenienced. In the final straight, Judge Boesman had a tendency to hang in and could not be properly assisted.

■ RACE 8 ? the holdall cup

At the start, Masterfax was slow out losing about one length. Eastern Exodus raced wide on the first turn. Near the 500 metres, Multi Dimention shifted in slightly and brushed the running rail. Near the 150 metres, Light Path was disappointed for a run between Multi Dimention and Four Wood and had to be taken in for a clear run. Four Wood hung in in the final straight and could not be properly assisted.
