RACE 1 – THE NOBLE SALUTE PLATE</B>

At the start Chikadee jumped awkwardly, was slow out, losing about one length. Near the 1300 metres Distinctly Gold shied away from Joystick and shifted in, resulting in Harbour Bridge on its inside being taken in onto Colourful Strike, with the latter becoming cramped for room and having to be eased. Apprentice Bussunt was issued with a warning and told he is expected to do more to straighten his horses when they shift ground. Jockey Neisius was shown the video of the incident and advised to always show care when shifting ground. Music Master raced wide throughout and from the 900 metres, when the pace slowed, started racing fiercely until the 600 metres. Jockey Neisius reported that Harbour Bridge hung in throughout the race. A subsequent veterinary examination of the horse revealed no abnormality. Over the last 150 metres Chikadee hung in badly and proved difficult to be properly assisted. At an inquiry into an incident, apprentice Bussunt (Distinctly Gold) pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 161 (c) in that approaching the 100 metres he carelessly allowed his mount to shift out, resulting in Harbour Bridge, on his outside, being bumped and becoming badly cramped for room and, consequently having to be checked.
