■ <B> RACE 1 – THE COURTESY CUP</B>

At the start Dempster jumped with its head up, was slow out, losing about one length. On jumping, jockey Bussunt lost his off side stirrup, which he quickly regained. Be A Sport jumped outwards, brushing Dempster. Upon entering the final straight Be A Sport had to be taken in for a clear run and, shortly after, had to be taken out off the heels of Tamarin Falls in order to obtain a clear run. In the final straight, Play The Field hung in badly and could not be properly assisted. Muhta’s Dancer hung in in the final straight. Near the 25 metres Be A Sport was accidentally hit on the head by jockey Herholdt’s whip.

Routine urine specimens were taken for analysis from Championchallange and Tamarin Falls prior to the race and from Wolfe Tone after the race.

■ <B>RACE 2 – THE PORT AU PRINCE CUP</B>

At the start Blushing Moon stood flat-footed and jumped with its head up. Desert Dance and Barrister were both slow out, losing about one length and two lengths respectively. Blushing Moon jumped outwards and In A Heart Beat jumped inwards, resulting in Ice Flow being cramped for room and having to be eased. Blushing Moon raced fiercely from the 1200 to the 600 metres, throwing its head up when being settled. At an inquiry into an incident, jockey Boutanive (In A Heart Beat) was found guilty of a charge under Rule 161 (c) in that passing the 1100 metres he carelessly took his mount in, resulting in Desert Dance, which was racing on his inside, having to be checked. Taking into consideration that In A Heart Beat is not an easy horse to control, the Stewards imposed a fine of Rs.10,000 on jockey Boutanive.

Routine urine specimens were taken for analysis from Barrister, In A Heart Beat and Ice Flow prior to the race and from Press Line after the race.

■ <B>RACE 3 – THE SIR WINSTON CHURCHILL CUP</B>

At the start Express Mail jumped outwards, throwing its head up, Te Atatu and Double Lock were both slow out, all losing about one length. From near the 300 metres onwards Rob-N-Bob hung out. At an inquiry into an incident, jockey Whitmore (Bang On Time) pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 161 (c) in that shortly after entering the final straight he carelessly allowed his mount to shift out, resulting in Match The Market, which was racing on his outside, having to be checked and taken in. Jockey Whitmore was fined Rs.10,000. When Match The Market was taken in off the heels of Bang On Time, Double Lock, which was following, had to be eased and taken out and Te Atatu was slightly inconvenienced. The Club’s Veterinary Surgeon reported that Rob-N-Bob lost its near fore shoe in running.

Routine urine specimens were taken for analysis from Express Mail, Rob-N-Bob and Ask The Wind prior to the race and from Bang On Time prior to and after the race.

■ <B>RACE 4 – THE ROBINSON CUP</B>

At the start Forest Flag jumped outwards and Dandy Rouge jumped inwards, resulting in Monomotapa being cramped for room. Shortly after Emjaybee shifted in and in a general crowding Intsu, Monomotapa, Oisin Breeze and Yankee Bell were inconvenienced, resulting in Oisin Breeze and Monomotapa having to be eased and lose their positions. At an inquiry into an incident, jockey Shea (Nautilus) pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 161 (c) in that passing the 1300 metres he carelessly allowed his mount to shift in, resulting in Intsu, which was racing on his inside, becoming cramped for room and having to be eased. Jockey Shea was fined Rs.10,000. Emjaybee raced wide on the first turn. From the 800 metres to the 400 metres Intsu raced fiercely and attempted to race into a gap which had been created when Nautilus, the leader, raced off the fence and passing the 300 metres Intsu had to be eased when Nautilus came back to the fence. At the same time, Emjaybee was also taken in with Nautilus and Yankee Bell, which was following, was slightly inconvenienced. Jockey Shea (Nautilus) was shown the video of the incidents and told to keep his mounts close to the fence when in a position to do so. Jerico and Dandy Rouge raced wide throughout. The Club’s Veterinary Surgeon reported that Intsu was suffering from a superficial cut to the near fore cannon and that Nautilus had a deep cut into the off hind leg. In view of this, trainers B. Gujadhur and G. Rousset were told that their respective horses will need a veterinary certificate of fitness before being allowed to race again.

■ <B>RACE 5 – THE TATTS POKIES EXCELLENCE 2006 CUP</B>

Routine urine specimens were taken for analysis from Clifton King and Light Scuffle prior to the race and from One For The Road after the race.

■ <B>RACE 6 – THE SIR SEEWOOSAGUR RAMGOOLAM CENTENARY CUP</B>

At the start Wise Owl was slow out, losing about two lengths. Approaching the 1600 metres, when the pace slowed, Real Schlep started racing fiercely and had to be eased off the heels of Mudslide Slim. From near the 350 to passing the 300 metres Keen To Win was held up for a run. Over the last 150 metres Rambo Rouge had a tendency to hang in and had to be straightened. Jockey Joorawon reported that Greek Flag hung out throughout the race.

Routine urine specimens were taken for analysis from Moyenne and Greek Flag prior to the race and from National Manner after the race.

■ <B>RACE 7 – LA COUPE DE LA REPUBLIQUE</B>

At the start Diamond Lullaby stumbled badly, dislodging jockey Jones. Passing the 1100 metres Destination had to be steadied off the heels of Mr Millionaire, which had shifted in from the riderless horse shifting in. Passing the 900 metres, when the pace slowed, Destination, which was racing fiercely, had to be eased off the heels of Giant Leap and Frequent Dance, which was following, had to be taken out. Approaching the 600 metres, the riderless horse shifted in, resulting in Imperious Caesour having to be checked over some distance and lose ground. Thereafter, Imperious Caesour was taken out resulting in Mr Millionaire being taken out and racing wide over the final turn. From the 200 metres Playing Possum shifted in and Imperious Caesour was taken in and near the 100 metres Imperious Caesour had to be taken out off the heels of Playing Possum in order to obtain a clear run. Near the 100 metres Destination was taken in off the heels of Golden Days in order to obtain a clear run. Near the 150 metres jockey Herholdt (Royal Lineage) lost his off side rein which he quickly regained. The Clubs’ Veterinary Surgeon reported that Diamond Lullaby and Giant Leap were both suffering from a deep cut to the off hind superficial flexor tendon. In view of this, trainers S. Henry and Rameshwar Gujadhur were told that their respective horses will need a veterinary certificate of fitness before being allowed to race again.

■ <B>RACE 8 – THE WILD AMBER PLATE</B>

At the start Spirit threw its head up and was slow out, losing about two lengths. Passing the 1400 metres and near the 600 metres, New Recruit, which was racing fiercely, had to be taken out off the heels of Bobby’s Boy. In the final straight New Recruit had a tendency to hang in and could not be properly assisted.Routine urine specimens were taken for analysis from Bobby’s Boy prior to the race and from Golden Millenium after the race.
