18 year-old student, Anne-Christine Kalee, died on the spot after being run over by a bus. She was walking to catch the bus in Quatre-Bornes station to go to school when another bus came by and the accident occurred. The bus driver didn?t see her coming. While Anne-Christine?s mother called upon bus drivers to be more careful, bus and taxi drivers in Quatre-Bornes explained that people tend to walk anywhere during rush hours. The presence of policemen would certainly help avoid such tragic events in the future.

<B>La Tour-Koenig murder solved up</B>

The alleged murderer of René Maderbux has been found. Bruno Triton was arrested by the Central Investigation Division (CID) for ?rogue and vagabond? but he finally confessed to the killing of the owner of the snack bar, Chez Bea. The latter was found last January by his daughter, lying dead in his bedroom with a knife in his chest. <B>New measures to reduce traffic jams</B>

The ministry of Public infrastructure is examining a new way of reducing traffic jams in Port-Louis. Traffic lights could replace the Caudan roundabout, seen as a major obstacle to circulation. A study by the Road Development Authority and the Traffic Management & Road Safety Unit will be carried out concerning the roundabout and the traffic lights at Place d?Armes in Port-Louis. The study will cost Rs 6 million but will benefit from French government support. Simulation exercises will also take place. Technicians believe that the reduction of traffic jams at the roundabout will have a domino effect on traffic jams in general.
