Puigs shutting down Paco Rabanne fashion house.
France’s great futurist house has told the staff at the Paris-based label to start looking for other jobs. Rabanne’s owners the Puig family from Barcelona has decided to shutter the fashion department, and the house’s American designer Patrick Robinson has already returned to New York. Under French law, the fashion house is obliged to create a “plan social” or a lay-off plan, where employees are given significant compensation and first preference to return to their positions should the company be re-launched or acquired within two years of the beginning of the plan social. The news comes four months after Robinson presented his third collection for Rabanne, a subtly streamlined and critically well-received collection that managed to blend downtown cool with classy unconventionality.
