On Saturday at 10 o?clock a prize-giving ceremony cum-open day was held at Heen Foh Hall. In her welcoming address, Mrs Lim Pit Fong (the Principal) recalled the main events which highlighted the life of the school during the current academic year. Guang Ping School after its ten years of existence has about 100 pupils and it is run by six dedicated and selfless teachers on a voluntary basis for the promotion and teaching of Mandarin. The school conducts courses in Mandarin every Saturday from 9.00 to 12.00 at the Young Men?s Aided Primary School at Remy Ollier Street, Port Louis. In spite of many difficulties and limited financial means the school has managed to stand the test of time. The pupils come from different regions of the island. It also aims at the propagation of Chinese culture (the teaching of music and dance).The prize-giving ceremony ended at about noon with a cultural show put on by the pupils of the institution.

Mr. Bai, Director of the Chinese Cultural Centre and Mr Dang of the Embassy of the People?s Republic of China were also present during the function. Many parents came as well.
