Mooraghen in trouble? again
The Mooraghen family are in the news again. After the father, Moonsamy, was arrested and charged for the murder of 63 year-old Sooroojlall Seetul ten days ago, his son, Viren, was arrested last Thursday on the same charge. He had been arrested previously on a provisional charge of murder in the Deelchand case.
Labourer Soorooklall Seetul?s body was found in a field in Pierrefonds, Beaux-Songes, with a serious wound in the head. His clothes were blood-stained and there was a bloody stone beside him, which is suspected to be the murder weapon. The police medical officer, Dr Satish Boolell, said that death was due to chest wounds.
The field where the body was found is leased to Moonsamy Mooraghen and the labourer had been working for him for three years. He had been questioned and arrested by the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of Bambous a few hours after the body was found but had denied any involvement in the labourer?s death. He said he was in the field but was feeding his dogs and checking his employees? work. His son Viren also denied having anything to do with the crime. He explained he was at home with his wife and mother at the time of the death.
The CID is continuing the investigation; they are interested in knowing whether the crime is linked with the cannabis found in the field, three metres from the place where the body was discovered.
