World Peace and Spiritual Ambassador, Rajyogini Brahma Kumari Dadi Prakashmani, ?The Jewel of Light to Humanity?, died at BKWSU headquarters in Rajasthan, India.

Aged 85, Dadi Prakashmani, passed away on Saturday 25 August after a long illness at the international headquarters of the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University (BKWSU) in Mount Abu, Rajas-than, India.

Her funeral took place last Monday. A large number of her supporters and dignitaries paid their last tribute to her. Born in 1922 in Hyderabad, Sindh, now in Pakistan, she joined the Brahma Kumaris at the age of 14 for a spiritual life devoted to the Almighty to serve humanity worldwide, fostering unity among people.

In 1951, the university?s world headquarters founded and headed by Brahma Baba, moved to Mount Abu in Rajasthan. In 1969, Brahma Baba died handing over the leadership to endearingly-called Dadiji as the administrative head of the organization.

The BKWSU is a non-governmental charitable organization and an internationally recognized university, affiliated to the United Nations under her leadership. Dadi Prakashmani, ?a Jewel of Light? in name and actions, had unlimited vision, great generosity and boundless enthusiasm, which led to a global expansion of the institution. It has today around 8,000 centres in over 130 countries, Mauritius having six main centres and six sub-centres and Rodrigues one.

It offers people of all backgrounds the opportunity to learn Raja Yoga meditation anddeepen their understanding of universal principles and innate values through a variety of educational courses, programs and learning resources. She toured many countries including Mauritius to spread the message of goodwill and peace.

Among the honours conferred upon her are: United Nations International Year of Peace Medal (1986), Internationl Peace Messenger Award (1987) and the Unesco Special Award in Support of Culture of Peace Project entitled ?Peace Manifesto ? 2000? as promoted by UN General Assembly in the year 2000.
