Yes, definitely. It helps pupils to get some practice, as the exercises are almost the same every year ? especially in my field, mathematics. Thanks to those past papers, pupils manage to do their exercises successfully and they prove to be very useful in class.

● <B>Pupils have also been using such past papers for years to prepare for their exams. What will they do now?</B>

Yes, pupils also find these papers a great help during the year. The problem will not really occur this year but we shall really feel the consequences of this decision next year. However, I suppose past exam papers will still be available on the Internet. If that is the case, we will still be able to download some of them and give them to pupils. It will certainly be a bit complicated but it is more of a practical issue. Photocopies might however be more expensive than the price of past exam papers at the moment. But I know that Singapore is still working with these past exam papers. Why should it be different in Mauritius? We should find a way to make it possible to continue to rely on these past exam papers to a certain extent.

● <B>Will it be so hard to do without these past papers from Cambridge in the future?</B>

Yes, it will indeed disturb the way we are working at the moment. If all papers are taken off the market, then pupils will not have any models for questions anymore.

● <B> The problem with the availability of these papers is not only the copyright issue but some critics also point out that they only help pupils to learn by heart without developing their capacity for reflection? What is your opinion?</B>

It is indeed a fact but unfortunately, the problem comes from the papers of Cambridge themselves. As far as Mathematics is concerned, there are direct questions, which do not call upon the pupils? capacity for reflection. As a result, the best way of making sure the pupils will pass their exams is to make them do the same type of exercise during the year.
