Public health and safety at stake

The State under the present regime is doing a lot to protect public health-late service in Health Cares centres and dispensaries, control of prices of medecines and multi-purpose cares for different categories of patients and people.

A very laudable undertaking with the corporation and collaboration of differents sectors and partners

The sanitation and hygiene, air, water and land, all areas exposed to the danger of pollution are closedly watched.

But one aspect concerning public health and safety has been put at stake. Rather, it has been more exposed and encouraged to fatality and death.

Formerly on account of food poisoning among school children, the sale of foods itemssuch as mines, riz frits, pains curry, rotis etc had been banned from the schools. Merchants and sellers of food prepared elsewhere were not allowed. Even the snacks underwent severe control : well ventilated kitchen, waste water outlet and absorbsion pit, all ustensils and stores at hand for inspection by the authorities and the public.

But, today, the new regime has allowed to overlook the rigid norms. The taba-j operators victuallers have been allowed, rather than encouraged to prepare food items in their own kitchen, kilometres away, inside or outside, in uncontrolled sanitary conditions. They bring them in non conform recipients to sell them in the open on tricycles and taba-j. Thus, the exposure to food poisoning revives the risk of fatality and death.

Personaly, I know certains cases in Bambous (they should be verified) where such practices are prevalent. Besides, the seasonal sellers of grill poulet and agneau all along the public road, infect the atmosphere. Should there be or not any control of polluting factors ? Or should we let anarchism installed in the fields of food preparation and sale in public.
