Clueless about business?

From what I read regularly in the local newspapers, I don’t think there will be much controversy in putting forward the following statement: there is not much on the three Mauritian TV channels that would make you stay up late. Would you readers know anyway? Or should I ask: ‘do you remember the days before your subscription to foreign channels?’

Business Insight was one of the rare local programmes, if not the only English programme, that I found worth breaking my routine to watch. It was, and unfortunately, no longer is. I suppose that with the new year come inevitable changes. What was not so bad gets bad. What was bad gets worse or gets carried forward into the new year. What was good, well, just disappears. And I believe this is what happened to Business Insight. Could you help me solve this mystery? Anyone?

I can only comment on the few shows that I watched and found insightful. As a young graduate getting to grips with the local business environment, I particularly enjoyed the pertinent and well-researched interview questions, be they with locals or foreigners. I recall the interview with the Japanese expert for the National Productivity and Competitiveness Council, for instance. Senvy Maistry and his team were innovative in filling a gap in the number of informative programmes (in English) broadcast locally. I am only sorry I might be clueless about business this year.
