Clearstream : Rondot versus investigators
The 69-year-old senior intelligence agent has been a key witness in the alleged Clearstream dirty tricks scandal which has involved Prime Minister Domnique de Villepin, Interior Minister and presidential rival Nicolas Sarkozy and Defence Minister Michelle Alliot-Marie.
Rondot?s earlier testimony has been widely leaked, and he had said earlier he would not respond to requests for further interviews by the two magistrates investigating the case.
His lawyer erroneously claimed on Saturday that Rondot had been taken in for questionning.
General Philippe Rondot (C), a central figure in a murky French scandal that has overshadowed the government for weeks, is escorted by police from his home in the western Paris suburb of Meudon to be interviewed by investigating.
