The blackout saga of the CEB is still going on at Bel-Air-Rivière-Sèche despite the many complaints we made to the Hot line desk in Cassis. On the 11th January 2006, we have had four short interval power cuts starting from 22.25 hrs till 23.15 hrs. Every week we have blackout for long hours in the evenings at Bel-Air-Rivière Sèche and yet our complaints keep falling on deaf ears. Nobody cares ! The Minister of Public Utilities, Abu Kasenally, seems to be unaware of the problem of electricity blackout in these areas.

Despite many phone calls made to the hot line number 130, those who took the calls could not care less and adopted a very officious attitude. On the eve of New Year, most shop owners at Bel-Air-Rivière-Sèche had to sell their goods by candlelight whereas others had to close shops in protest.

It is about time Minister Kasenally tries to find out what went wrong as the whole area in Bel-Air- Rivière-Sèche was blackout three times during the night in the last week of December 2005 and two other times the week before. Even during daytime we have had lots of power cuts without warning.

None of our three MP?s namely Hon Mrs Indira Seebun, Minister of Women, Hons Lormesh Bundhoo, the PPS, and Cader Sayed Hossen would help. Some streets of Bel-Air-Rivière-Sèche are pitch dark at night due to defective lamps. Not a single day passes without our electricity supply is cut off. Sometimes we had two to three power cuts per day without warning and this has caused collateral damages such as spoiling our foods in the freezer. Whenever we phoned the CEB at Bramsthan, nobody seemed to care.
