<B>Personal insults
I have been present as an observer in the Mauritian Assembly since 1971.
SSR had one eye, Dev Virahsawmy had one hand, and SGD was bisexual, but they got on with the governing of the country. The only intrusion into personal life that I remember from that time was the famous exchange between Sookdeo Bissoondoyal and SSR.
Why, today, Mr Speaker, Sir, does the Parliament allow personal insults?
Hon. Bhagwan(MMM) and the late Hon. Virasahwmy (PTr) suffered from the same skin problem ? why bring it up?
How can a Doctor MP make comments on the Leader of the Opposition under the immunity of Parliament?
It might be of interest that one of the greatest American presidents was in a wheelchair.
Can we actually ask our paid representatives to do their job and govern the country?
