Disgusting Civil Service
I want to inform you of an incident which happens on Tuesday 06/06/06 at the Ministry of Labour. I live in Palma. I want to get information on a society. I go to the Registrar of Associations on 06/06/06. I get in the office at 11.45 a.m because it is difficult to search the office. I meet an officer and ask him the information. He tells me the required officer is taking lunch. He can meet me at 12.30 only. I tell him I live far away and I am tired. He does not understand. He tells me to come at 12.30 or on the next day at 10.00. I am not satisfied. I go to the Ministry of Labour to report the officer at 12.40. On 9th floor the reception tells me Madam Ramsamy is in charge and she is in America. Her assistant is Madam Durgacant, she is following yoga class on first floor and she will be free at 13.15 only. I come on first floor. The reception tells me madam Durgacant is doing yoga. I cannot meet her. I am surprised, I go home. No information.

Open letter to the Minister of Environment
Sir, kindly note the following:
We residents of Glaiëuls Avenue, Quatre-Bornes are depressed, disturbed and helpless due to the indifference of almost all authorities concerned, contacted to find a solution to the unhygienic state of things we are facing here.
The problem is one year old. One family?s septic tank starts overflowing. The road is always wet, the yellowish liquid slopes down quietly, to the disgust and dismay of the residents and passersby A nauseating smell hovers around night and day. Since then the residents leave no stone unturned to remedy, to find a solution, to their deplorable conditions. Nobody seems to be concerned. The municipality of Quatre Bornes is informed, the Environment police is called, the sanitary office at Rose Hill is made aware of, the Ministry of Environment is contacted. We are asked to send letters; letters are despatched immediately. We cannot count the phone calls to your ministry, to the Police de l?environnement yet the road grins at us with the same yellowish, brownish, greenish water which has even made pools right in the middle. There are smells of nothing but a public toilet. Residents of the avenue keep windows and doors shut, that?s the only solution when the door of the Ministry, the door of the Municipality are shut to us.
We sincerely hope you will not do the same. A request to you is not to send the famous police people for a check. We have had enough of all the routine checks carried on. Actions will be better than words. No sane society would like to be thus abondoned when everyday television pictures show the seemingly great cleaning process going around the country.
With the hopeless hope to have the opportunity to breathe some fresh air again here; we would like to thank you in advance.
Residents of Glaieuls Avenue Quatre Bornes
