“Abdication in Paradise”
“An update from paradise: the swim federation of Mauritius managed to meet at last, only to decide not to decide, abdicating its duty by handing back responsibility for allocation of training lanes across the island to the nation’s Sports Council. Dear, o dear. From a distance – what a lily-livered, half-hearted effort. Surely the swim experts of Mauritius would be better placed to decide how best to use water space than a group of people with multiple and competing interests ? The question is posed by reporter Jean-Hugues Olivier at L’Express in Port Louis. It's a very good question. The answer of the swim fed of Mauritius should, of course, be to sit up and take note, set aside petty differences, stand up for swimmers and help to get that space sorted out. That’s why you volunteered for office – isn’t it?”
