Augmented, are we?

Anoucheka Gangabissoon.

À l’heure du tout à l’image et du buzz sans suite, «l’express» souhaite faire découvrir la plume de poètes, de chanteurs, d’écrivains et de tous ceux qui jettent leur âme sur le papier, et qui mettent en mots des réflexions profondes.

In the age of technological stardom

We seem to have gotten

One more aptitude added to our list of skills:

That of providing AI with the right prompts

To create that which we desire the most!

We fly in areas where we would never have

If not for AI

We seem to have turned into a new race

Empowered by a software which presents

Itself as having the potential to save us

Should we meet with the gloom of being

Under the thunderstorms of destruction!

But then, this new power spells danger

As we get warned by those who created it

Scared, they choose the shade of huge baobabs

In silent rainforests, preferring to sit as still as they can

For as long as they can so that birds feel not scared of them

And even fly to rest upon their friendly hands!

AI allows us to be augmented as humans

Its birth into our world gets justified

As technological progress is swift

But we have a moral duty towards our world

And that includes making good use of this new power

To use it to help us who become naught but ants

When faced with natural catastrophes

Using it with prompts to destroy life on earth

Is akin to being a sin

Punishable by the skies!

We are now augmented humans

Let’s clear the fog patches to allow clean air

To be felt throughout the world

So that the children of Earth

Can all hold hands and play together

For, let us not forget

That we are not our own creations;

We are the servants of a higher power!
