Drop Dead Dal

Raajeev Auchambit.

À l’heure du tout à l’image et du buzz sans suite, «l’express» souhaite faire découvrir la plume de poètes, de chanteurs, d’écrivains et de tous ceux qui jettent leur âme sur le papier, et qui mettent en mots des réflexions profondes.

Before the pressure of the tempo, it’s bright,

smiling like any fellow saying hello, just right

(this was before the plan) with spices as weapons and a

cooker as my chamber

I snatch its colour, feeling guilty like my neighbour

Rinsing them, not once but too many times,

a dictator’s delight, each drop of water, a drop of pure crimes -

It’s late, it faces a fate it does not seek,

with a heart so cold, I make it hot and sleek,

I seal the lid with a clap,

trapping it right with a sinister wrap;

The whistle blows, a chilling scream

steam rises high, like a haunting dream

I lift the lid; it boils and toils,

this discoloured creation, my conscience is spoilt.

Inside I know, I’ve crossed a line

It is all yellow pale; no vivid sign.

To hide my crime, I drop some saffron

A final trick to make as if nothing has happened.

Drop dead dal,

my mouth is now your pal.
