<p><strong>Heavy rain warning for Mauritius issued at 10h30 this Saturday 08 January 2022 valid as from 13h00.</strong></p>

<p>Heavy convective showers with thunderstorms are expected this afternoon mainly to the South, the South-West and over the Central Plateau. However, other thundery cells &nbsp;may develop in other sectors during the evening and at night. The heavy showers will cause water accumulation in flood prone areas.</p>

<p>The highest rainfall recorded during the latest 24 hours till 04h00 this morning:</p>

	<li>Queen-Victoria:96mm</li>
	<li>Beau -Songes: 52mm</li>
	<li>Mon-Loisir: 95mm</li>
	<li>Bois-Mangues:56mm</li>
	<li>Vacoas:45mm</li>
</ul>

<p>During heavy thundery showers, the public is advised:</p>

<ul>
	<li>To remain in safe places and avoid open areas, sea ventures and sheltering under trees during thunderstorms</li>
	<li>Avoid places prone to water accumulation</li>
	<li>Be very cautious on the roads due water runoff and reduced visibility</li>

<p>Active clouds will cause heavy thundery showers over the island as from this afternoon till tomorrow morning.</p>

<p>During heavy thundery showers, the public is advised:</p>

<ul>
	<li>To remain in safe places and avoid open areas, sea ventures and sheltering under trees during thunderstorms</li>
	<li>Avoid places prone to water accumulation and keep away from the radiers.</li>
	<li>Be very cautious on the roads due water runoff and reduced visibility</li>
