In “good” white families of pure Franco-Mauritian blood, nothing immoral ever happens, Jacques de Maroussem was brought up to believe. Yet, he was only four when a relative tried to rape him…
Now, he wants to kill the myth that race, socio-economic status or gender has anything to do with paedophilia. “When it happens to the underprivileged, people very often brush it aside and say ‘oh, it’s because they’re poor,’” he says. “That isn’t true and has never been true, which is why it is important for me to tell my story.”
