Further to my telephone conversation with a traffic officer of NTC, concerning the unfairness that the inhabitants of Baie-du-Cap, Choisy and surrounding villages have to face to go to the hospital and to their work place every morning, and other problems, I am hereby addressing to the officer in charge this correspondence to expose the prevailing situation, in the name of many people.

As you know, the bus leaving Choisy every morning at 7.10 a.m. for the J. N. Hospital takes nearly two hours to reach its destination, which is about 9.00 a.m. Hence you will surely admit how unfair it is to make the sick people of Baie du Cap ? Choisy travel this long distance when there is a shorter route.

Consequently, we propose that instead of passing through Camp-Diable, Rivière-du- Poste, Mare-Tabac and onwards, the bus goes directly to Rose-Belle. Eventually, arrangements could be made for other buses from Chemin-Grenier or Souillac to serve these above-mentioned localities. It is to be noted that not only sick people travel by this bus but a number of passengers who go to their work place.

Moreover, punctuality seems not to be the main concern of those drivers and conductors who serve these routes (i.e. Choisy ? Curepipe, Choisy ? Rose-Belle) mainly when leaving Choisy and Baie- du-Cap. It has become a practice for them to leave with 10 minutes delay or more and thus confusing the passengers about the real time of departure. As a result, many workers, students and so on reach their destination tardily. For this problem, we propose (again) that you post an officer at Choisy on a permanent basis, as at Rivière des Galets bus Station, to control the arrival and departure of the buses. We no longer want to suffer from this stressful situation.

Besides, it could be much appreciated that the bus timetable be displayed at some strategic places at Choisy, Baie du Cap, St Martin and Bel Ombre, as we cannot wait for the bus haphazardly. (As suggested out some years ago).

Last but not least, is the problem at Jan Palach Bus Station/Choisy Stand where everyday and almost all buses do not take the passengers where they should i.e. at Choisy stand. Hence it seems to be an insignificant issue but when you have to wait for the next bus 50 minutes, and you see that other passengers at Chemin-Grenier Stand having priority to enter the bus, its more than unfair. For this reason, we solicit you to make sure that the bus for Choisy go directly at its intended stand, and wait until its time of departure before moving to Chemin-Grenier Stand.

Here is a summary of our request:

1. The realignment of the bus going to JN Hospital at Rose Belle.

2. An NTC officer at Choisy to regulate the movement of the bus for promptness.

3. More discipline at the Choisy Stand at Jan Palach station.

4. Display of bus timetable at strategic places.

Sir, we rely on your cooperation to improve the condition of all the numerous passengers living at Choisy, Baie-- du Cap, St-Martin and Bel- Ombre, who no longer want to be considered as second class citizens of this country.
