Dear Rama,
Much as I like our Prime Minister?s anecdotes for bed time stories for my great grandchildren, this is serious matter. Just imagine (and that should not be hard) yourself as a member of Opposition and the following table based on my very real life situation is in your clutches. Please make the speech of your life, demanding the Minister of Finance why am I paid an old age pension, which I could have paid myself and still have almostRs 2,000 left, if only he didn?t tax the paltry interest that I earn out of my meager savings over a lifetime.
I am almost 75 and the last time I paid any tax was 12 years back. Has my grandson got the new tax law wrong or have I been wronged ?
