A heartsick Zimbabwean father dug up the remains of his son who died three years ago and kept them under his pillow because he hoped the boy would be resurrected, official media reported yesterday.

Luxmore Maruza, 50, told police it was out of love that he exhumed his son, who was 4-years old when he died in a rural part of northeastern Zimbabwe, the Herald newspaper reported.

?Maruza reportedly placed the remains in his bedroom in the belief that the boy would resurrect,? the newspaper said.

A police spokesman confirmed the report, which came to light after villagers in Mudzi district discovered the boy?s grave had been tampered with. Police are questioning Maruza.
