Conflict at the Cardiac Centre
There is a controversy at the Cardiac Centre in Pamplemousses. The chairman of the Trust Fund for Specialised Medical Care, Siv Potayya, has taken a firm stand against doctors of the centre who are also practising in private clinics. ?I was not the one to implement such regulations. I am just applying them?, he explains. The former chairman, Dick Ng Sui Wa, admits that he accepted the ?compromise because of the lack of competence in that field. We could not afford to lose them?. Some sources assert that this confusion is due to a conflict between Siv Potayya and Dr Sunil Gunness but the former has denied the allegation. He will, however, seek minister Faugoo?s stand before taking any action.
