Third death sparks UK gun fears
Police chiefs called an urgent meeting yesterday after the third fatal shooting of a teenager in London in less than two weeks, fuelling mounting fears over gun culture in the British capital. The meeting came after a 15-year-old boy was found shot dead in his home on Wednesday. Another 15-year-old was shot dead in his bedroom last Tuesday while a few days before, a 16-year-old was gunned down at an ice rink.
All the shootings happened within an eight-kilometre radius in south London. Two of the victims were black and one mixed race. Commissioner Ian Blair was to discuss the spate of shootings with senior detectives and those from Operation Trident, which specifically investigates gun crime within London?s black community.
